Michael Rip is the founding director of MSU’s Master of Science in Healthcare Management program and an assistant professor in the Department of Management in the Eli Broad College of Business. He is also founding director of the Program in Public Health in the College of Human Medicine. His research interests include critical thinking and innovation and how critical thinking can provide a foundation for high-reliability organizations to improve patient safety and minimize error in healthcare settings.

To be accepted to this program, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree
    Official four-year bachelor’s degree-bearing transcript from a regionally or nationally accredited institution that demonstrates a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 in the last two years of the program. Transcripts from Michigan State are not required.

  • 3.0 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale
  • A written personal statement
    Statement of purpose (250–1,000 words) describing relevant education, work experience and how you intend to apply the M.S. in Healthcare Management degree to your career and in achieving your professional goals

  • 3 letters of recommendation
    Three letters of recommendation from professional, work-related references, preferably direct supervisors

  • Official transcripts from all previous schools
