Program Overview

Students in our Graduate Certificates (GC) in Educational Technology often enroll because, as educators, they know there are ways to use digital tools that go beyond just adding on or using technology for its own sake. They're eager to learn new technologies, but they're especially eager to figure out how to use those technologies to enhance their students’ learning. GC students learn how to evaluate, analyze, curate, create, deconstruct, remix, and teach complex content using a range of digital tools. More than ever, today’s K-12 students need teachers who can help them to leverage digital tools to become powerful digital users, makers, and thinkers. The Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology courses will give you the foundation needed to operationalize this in your professional practice.

Our hybrid experience meets on MSU's campus for 2 weeks in July and continues online for the next 4 weeks.

Program Outcomes

Our Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology prepares educators who work in a range of educational settings to help students become powerful digital-age thinkers, makers, and problem solvers. You will acquire foundational knowledge and skills that will transform your thinking about how, why, and when to integrate a range of digital technologies to support student learning.

Career Outlook

Many of our students are teachers, administrators, and other educational professionals at all stages of their professional careers. Graduates of our Graduate Certificate in Educational Technology have gone on to work as building-level Technology Coaches, STEM/STEAM teachers, and Technology teachers. When pairing this GC with the MAET degree, graduates have become Technology Integration Specialists in schools and/or at the school district level, Technology Directors, Technology Consultants and advisors on educational technology issues in their schools and districts.
