Dr. Lik Chuan Lee is an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department. His research focus is in computational mechanics, biomechanics, numerical methods, patient-specific computer simulations and cardiovascular modeling.

Learning Experiences

Total credit requirement: 30 credits
Students must complete a minimum of 21 credits (7 courses) in classes at the 800 level or above.

Students may earn a maximum of 9 credits from courses outside of Mechanical Engineering and a maximum of 9 credits from courses in any department at the 400 level.

 

Admissions Requirements

 

To be accepted to this program, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree
    Four-year undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering or closely related field Applicants without a degree in mechanical engineering must, during the course of study, show proficiency in three of the following courses: ME 332 Fluid Mechanics, ME 451 Controls, ME 410: Heat Transfer, ME 461 Vibrations, and ME 423 Intermediate Mechanics of Deformable Solids.
  • 3.0 GPA or above on a 4.0 scale
  • CV/Résumé
  • Taken the TOEFL (Only required if English is not your native language)
  • A written personal statement
    Your academic statement should describe your plans for graduate study, career goals, and how the program will help you meet your objectives (2 pages). Your personal statement should concisely describe how your background and life experiences influenced your decision to pursue a graduate degree (2 pages).
  • 3 letters of recommendation
    Applicants should request letters of recommendation through the graduate education portal. Once their contact information is entered, the MSU application system will reach out to the letter writers.
  • Official transcripts from all previous schools

To apply to this program:

  • Complete university graduate application and pay the application fee.
  • Submit all materials to the application portal.
  • GRE scores are not required for domestic students, but they may help to bolster your application. GRE test scores must be provided directly from the Educational Testing Service. The GRE department code is 1203.

This program accepts rolling applications. Students can start the program in any semester. We recommend applications are submitted at least one month prior to the start of the semester to allow time for processing.
