Program Overview

The Multi-Tired Systems of Support (MTSS) graduate certificate provides training for individuals who wish to build expertise in MTSS implementation for students and schools. Learning from faculty who are leaders in the field, students will explore how to accurately identify the academic and behavioral needs of individuals they work with. Graduates from MSU's MTSS program will have the skills to improve students experiences and achievements through hands-on and informed decision-making. The MTSS graduate certificate can be completed individually or in connection with the Master of Arts in Special Education program.

 

Program Outcomes

Graduates will be able to strongly and meaningfully contribute to a more positive school climate for students. The program will teach graduates how to adapt their work to individual student needs to improve achievement and prevent actions that may cause academic or behavioral problems.

Professor and Director of the Special Education Program

As Professor and Director of the Special Education Program at MSU, Dr. Bouck represents one of the faculty whose own work and expertise are directly related to MTSS. Dr. Bouck’s conducts research on mathematical interventions and response to intervention for mathematics at the secondary level for students with disabilities or those at risk. She teaches courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels related to MTSS.

To be accepted to this program, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Previous work experience
    CV/Résumé
  • A written personal statement
  • 3 Letters of recommendation. Provide contact information for your recommenders and the MSU application system will provide instructions to them.
  • Official transcripts from all previous schools
