At MSU we are constantly building and updating our online programs to prepare students for the job market not just today, but well into the future. Across 17 colleges, faculty and staff understand and develop tools for AI specific to every field and discipline housed at MSU, but we want to highlight a few programs that are designed for an AI-lead workplace.
Programs designed for AI
Educational Statistics and AI Master of Arts
From MSU’s College of Education, this MA prepares students for a career in educational analytics focusing on data-informed decision-making.This program was designed for working professionals looking to adapt to a changing landscape, or recent graduates looking to prepare themselves for a career in education analytics. Students learn from faculty working in and researching education and technology, bringing a real-world perspective to the classroom. With a focus on equity, ethics, and responsible AI creating data-driven solutions, this program has been developed to equip students with the skills to be leaders in the emerging field of AI-powered educational statistics.
Strategic Communication Master of Arts
The nationally ranked College of Communication Arts and Sciences at MSU recognizes that AI is rapidly changing the communications landscape. MSU's online Strategic Communication program prepares learners to navigate this evolving environment by combining data-informed decision making with creativity, critical thinking, and ethical judgment. Students leverage AI while maintaining human insight. Resulting in graduates who are better equipped to build trust, shape narratives, and connect with audiences despite a changing workplace.
Jobs that continue to be in demand
Discussions about AI in the workplace can spark fears about job security. While MSU’s online programs work to prepare students in fast-evolving fields, here are a few programs that are grounded in human connection and care, something that AI cannot replicate:
Nursing Programs
Nurses provide something technology cannot: compassionate patient care, nuanced clinical judgment, and the ability to build relationships. While more healthcare systems are incorporating AI into charting and analysis, nurses are not going anywhere.
MSU's hybrid Nurse Practitioner M.S.N. program prepares nurses to lead in a healthcare system enhanced by technology while maintaining a human-centered care approach. Students gain clinical experience, and the communication skills necessary to care for patients.
Social Work
At MSU there are multiple ways to complete a hybrid social work degree. Both programs prepare students for work in a human-centered service field, learning soft-skills that AI cannot replace. Through integrated coursework and field experiences, social worker students develop the ability to navigate sensitive situations that require empathy and cultural awareness, in collaboration with individuals, families, and communities.
